Emmett Louis Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955) was a 14-year-old American boy who was kidnapped, beaten, stabbed and shot multiple times in a barn by old white men in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending (whistling at) a white woman ,Carolyne Bryant, in her family's grocery store. Only to find out in 1985 ( 60 years later ) by confession from Bryant that Emmett never whistled at her.
