Breonna Taylor (June 5 1993 - March 13 2020), a 26-year-old American girl, was fatally shot in her Louisville, Kentucky apartment on March 13, 2020, when white officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove of the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) unlawfully forced entry into the apartment as part of a random investigation into drug dealing operations. Breonna’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, was inside the apartment with her when the officers supposedly knocked on the door, then forced entry. Officers said that they announced themselves as police before forcing entry, but Kenneth said he did not hear any announcement. The officers unlawfully engaged in warfare upon the two Americans and fired 32 shots into Breonna Taylors home. Kenneth was unhurt but Breonna was hit by six bullets and died.
